You Don’t Have to Explain Everything

I used to think I needed a reason for everything. A good one.
Something that made sense to other people.
Something that wouldn’t be questioned.

Why I couldn’t make something.
Why I didn’t want to do something.
Why I was stepping back.

It felt easier to explain it than to just say it.

But at some point, that changed.

Not in a big, dramatic way.
Just a quiet realisation that I didn’t actually owe anyone a detailed justification for my decisions.

“No” is a complete answer.
“So is “not this time.”
So is saying nothing at all.

The people who matter don’t need an explanation.
And the ones who do… usually won’t accept one anyway.

There’s a lot of freedom in not over-explaining yourself.

It took me a while to learn that.
