The Outside Eye
The Outside Eye
Sometimes you need someone who isn’t already inside it.
When you’ve been looking at something for too long, it becomes difficult to see what someone else sees.
You know what it’s supposed to say. You know why it’s organised that way. You know what you meant.
I don’t. And that’s useful.
The Outside Eye is an independent review of one clearly defined thing that’s already there. I’ll look at it from the perspective of an intelligent outsider and identify what’s working, what isn’t, what’s confusing, missing or unnecessarily complicated, and what I’d change.
Sometimes what’s needed isn’t another idea. It’s a fresh pair of eyes on what’s already there.
What can I review?
It might be:
- A website or individual page
- An offer or service proposition
- A customer journey or communication
- A presentation or document
- A service delivery process
- An internal process or handover
- A recurring customer problem
- Something that’s become unnecessarily complicated
The important thing is that we’re looking at one clearly defined piece of work.
What I’ll look for
I’ll approach it without all the background knowledge you already have and ask the questions that become difficult to ask when you’re too close to something.
What’s working?
What’s getting in the way?
What’s confusing or missing?
What’s more complicated than it needs to be?
What would I change, and in what order?
And occasionally:
Why are you doing it this way?
If something works, it stays in the working column. This isn’t about changing things simply to prove I’ve done some work.
How it works
We’ll agree exactly what I’m reviewing before you pay.
You’ll send me the relevant material and enough context for me to understand what you’re trying to achieve.
I’ll review it properly, identify the issues and opportunities, and give you clear, prioritised recommendations.
You’ll receive:
A concise written review
What I think is working, what’s getting in the way, what I’d change and what I’d prioritise.
A 30-minute findings call
A chance to talk through the recommendations and clarify anything that needs discussion.
Your review will usually be completed within five working days of receiving everything I need.
What happens afterwards?
The Outside Eye is the review and recommendations.
It doesn’t include implementing the changes.
If my review identifies something I can help you put right, I’ll tell you. You can then decide whether you want to do it yourself, give it to someone else, or ask me to quote separately for that work.
The thinking, analysis and recommendations are the work.
You’re paying for an independent perspective, not committing yourself to anything afterwards.
What does it cost?
From £195
The final price depends on the scope of what you’d like me to review.
We’ll agree the scope and the full price before I begin, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying and what you’re getting.
Ready for a fresh pair of eyes?
If you’ve got something that exists but isn’t quite working as it should, tell me what you’d like me to look at.
