Untangle: Business
Untangle: Business
A clearer way through.
Running a business, managing a piece of work or developing an idea can get complicated remarkably quickly.
Sometimes the problem is obvious. Sometimes there are too many options, competing priorities or other people’s opinions involved. And sometimes you’ve been so close to something for so long that it’s difficult to see what actually needs your attention.
Untangle: Business is a focused 90-minute conversation designed to help you work through a business problem, decision or idea, identify what really matters and find a practical way forward.
No jargon. No generic business formula.
Just independent thinking, useful questions and another experienced brain focused on the thing that’s currently occupying yours.
This might be for you if…
You’re facing a business decision and keep going round in circles.
You’ve got an idea but can’t quite work out what to do with it.
There are several possible directions and you’re struggling to decide which deserves your time, money or attention.
Something isn’t working, but you’re not yet sure whether you’re looking at the problem or merely one of its symptoms.
You’ve accumulated so many priorities that everything now appears equally important.
You’re considering changing, adding or stopping something and want to think through the implications properly.
Or perhaps you know your business well but need to talk something through with somebody who isn’t already inside it.
You don’t need to arrive with the answer.
Finding the right question can be part of the work.
How it works
Before
I’ll send you four short questions before we meet.
They’ll give me enough context to understand what you’d like to untangle, what you’d like to achieve and what’s making it difficult right now.
If there’s something directly relevant that would help me understand the situation, such as a page, document, email, notes or other material, you can send that too.
Enough context to get us started. Not a twenty-page briefing document.
During
We have 90 minutes online to work through it properly.
We’ll:
Find the real problem.
What are we actually trying to solve? Is the problem you’ve brought the problem itself, or the bit that’s currently most visible?
Separate what matters from what doesn’t.
What’s important? What’s noise? What’s necessary? What’s simply being done because that’s how it’s always been done?
Work backwards from the outcome you want.
What needs to be true for you to get there? What’s preventing it? Which part needs attention first?
Find a practical way forward.
That might mean making a decision, testing an idea, changing direction, removing something unnecessary, gathering more information or deciding what needs tackling first.
I’m not there to run your business for you.
I’m there to help you see the problem clearly enough to decide what you want to do with it.
After
Within two working days, I’ll send you a concise personalised Untangle Summary covering:
What we identified
What matters
What comes next
Anything we deliberately parked
You’ll have a record of the useful thinking without having to spend half the session taking notes.
What you’ll leave with
By the end of Untangle, the aim is:
I understand what I’m actually dealing with.
I know what deserves my attention and what doesn’t.
I know what I’m doing next.
No 48-page strategy deck.
No management-consultancy bingo.
Just clearer thinking and a practical way forward.

90-minute online session
Four short pre-session questions.
Personalised written summary within two working days.
What happens next?
Sometimes the answer is simply yours to take away and act on.
Sometimes the session identifies something that needs a closer independent review, which may be better suited to The Outside Eye.
And sometimes another piece of work emerges that I can help with.
If it does, I’ll tell you. Anything beyond the Untangle session is separate, clearly scoped and your choice.
Untangle: Business isn’t ongoing consultancy or operational support. It’s a focused piece of work designed to help you get clear on the problem, the priorities and the next move.
